emotional integration help support warning signs Jan 04, 2020

It is no news that we all have emotions, and that no one teaches us how to cope with them and manage them. We are trying our best with what we know and what we are experiencing. But at some point in life, it is wise to start taking care of our emotions so we can have a healthy relationship with ourselves and others.

It may be through traditional therapy or different forms of alternative and holistic practices, but it is important to acknowledge that our emotional health requires daily care and attention.

Sadly, most people reach out for support when things get really bad, and it seems like there is no other option.

For this reason, I want to share with you 5 signs that make it clear you may need to find help and support with your emotional health:

1. You have tried different practices on your own, but you do not see consistent improvement.

Maybe you have tried many different therapy techniques, meditations, or practices but nothing seems to truly work, or you are inconsistent with your practice.

In this case, it is very important to reach out to someone that has the experience to guide you and keep you accountable. Sometimes when we are doing things on our own, we keep it safe and do not truly allow ourselves to go deep with working through our emotions. There is no way to rush healing. So you need to be very patient and consistent and having someone to guide you can make it possible.

2. You notice that your unresolved emotional patterns are damaging your relationships.

This is a big red flag. When you notice that your anger, sadness, fear, etc are beginning to damage your relationship with others.

It may be because you project your pain on to them (even if you do not mean to) or because the emotions are pushing you to isolate yourself.

When we are feeling strong emotions of disappointment, sadness, fear, anger, etc. we may not consciously want to pour them on those around us, but if we are not caring for the emotions, it will happen very easily. In this case it very important to reach out for help and support so we can learn to manage our emotions in a more constructive way. Doing this will help us to create loving boundaries with the people that surround us.

3. You use food, alcohol or drugs to deny what you feel.

The more we deny what we feel, the stronger the pain becomes.

For many people, the only way to soothe emotional pain is through numbing it with food, alcohol, and drugs. The reality is that in the long run, it never ends well. It only creates destructive habits, that can lead to addiction, and more severe mental and emotional issues.

Reaching out for help and support can teach you new coping mechanisms that will easily and compassionately allow you to let go of any destructive habits.

If you experience this, do not be hard on yourself, you have been doing the best you can, but have the courage to reach our for support and start creating emotional coping mechanisms that support your life.

4. You are beginning to lose hope in life.

You are beginning to feel hopeless. You may even feel emotionally numb. Having zero interest in the things that use to bring you joy.

If we suppress, and suppress and suppress our emotions, with time we may begin to feel depressed. Hyper focused on the negative part of life, feeling heavy and hopeless.

If you're experiencing this, it is very important to reach out for help and support. When we feel this way, we are not thinking clearly and objectively and it becomes more difficult to be able to be consistent with managing our emotions on our own.

Trust me, things can and will get better. The more that you work through your emotions, the more that heaviness will lift, and you will feel filled with life once again.

5. You feel the need to heal.

You have had enough of the old limiting emotional patterns, and you feel a hunger for change. You have been hearing the whispers, that have become so loud, that they can no longer be ignored.

You are ready to feel, process, and understand yourself at a deeper level than you have ever done before. When we reach this place in our personal journey, it crucial to surround ourselves with experiences that push us into action.

In this case, reaching out for help and support will give you the tools, and accountability to begin to create a conscious emotional practice.

It is only prudent, wise and an act of self-love to create a daily practice to care for your emotions. You deserve it.
